A Seminar on Cyber Security Awareness Organized at M. M. Modi College

The Information Technology Cell and the Department of Computer Science, Multani Mal Modi College in collaboration with Umang Welfare Foundation today organized a seminar on Cyber Security Awareness to equip the students with informational tools to understand the cyberspace and the various threats to the privacy, personal information and data. The main speaker in this seminar was Mr. Anurag Acharya, Cyber Head.

College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the speaker and said that the understanding of cyber threats helps to inculcate a sense of proactive responsibility and automatically develops a security mechanism against cyber threats. He also advised the students to remain vigilant and responsible in using social media and digital platforms. He also congratulated the Department of Computer Science for developing various software.

Mr. Anurag Acharya while speaking on the issues of Cyber Security demonstrated how hacking, phishing attacks and online frauds are main security risks in Cyber space. Discussing the protective software, security checks and methods for protection of personal and professional data he motivated the students to follow the fundamental principles of Cyber Security that are govern, protect, detect and response.

Dr Ajit Kumar, Controller of examination and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science discussed in detail different types of method to prevent cyber-attacks.

In this event the President of Umang Welfare Foundation Mr. Arvinder Singh, Seminar Coordinator Dr. Gaganpreet Kaur, General Secretary Mr. Rajinder Singh, Joint Secretary Mr. Paramjit Singh and Social media Coordinator Anmoljot Singh were present.

In this programme Prof. Vinay Garg, Head, Dept. of Computer Science, Dr. Ganesh Sethi, Dr Harmohan Sharma, Dr Sumeet Kumar, Ms Honey, Ms Komal, Mr Sukh Sehaj Singh, Ms Sunita Gupta, Ms Priyanka Singla were present. The stage was conducted by Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Dept. of Computer Science.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਸੈੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਉਮੰਗ ਵੈਲਫੇਅਰ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਈਬਰ ਸਪੇਸ, ਨਿੱਜਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਡਾਟਾ ਲਈ ਸਾਈਵਰ ਸਪੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਖਤਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਲਈ ਢੁੱਕਵੇਂ ਢੰਗ-ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੈਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਾਈਬਰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਸੈਮੀਨਾਰ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਸੈਮੀਨਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਉਮੰਗ ਵੈਲਫੇਅਰ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਆਏ ਸਾਇਬਰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਨੁਰਾਗ ਅਚਾਰੀਆ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਬੁਲਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਈਬਰ ਖਤਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੋਸਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਈਬਰ ਖਤਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦੱਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਡਿਜੀਟਲ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੀ ਤਾਰੀਫ਼ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਨੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਾਹੇਬੰਦ ਸਾਫ਼ਟਵੇਅਰ ਡਿਜ਼ਾਈਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।

ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਅਨੁਰਾਗ ਅਚਾਰੀਆ ਨੇ ਸਾਈਬਰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈਕਿੰਗ, ਫਿਸ਼ਿੰਗ ਹਮਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਔਨਲਾਈਨ ਧੋਖਾਧੜੀ ਸਾਈਬਰ ਸਪੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੱਖ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਜੋਖਮ ਹਨ। ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰਾਂ, ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਚਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਡੇਟਾ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਈਬਰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਨਿਯੰਤ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਵਾਬਦੇਹੀ, ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਚਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਖੋਜੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਹਨ।

ਇਸ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਟੇਜ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਡਾ. ਸੁਖਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਡਾ: ਅਜੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਕੰਟਰੋਲਰ ਆਫ਼ ਇਮਤਿਹਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਸਾਇੰਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਟ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਈਬਰ ਹਮਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
